Morocco will host AFCON 2025 🇲🇦🏆
This just in ! 🇲🇦🏆 Morocco will host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations !
Morocco last hosted Africa’s #1 sports competition in 1988.
Since the last AFCON, Morocco hosted a few top panafrican and international competitions
* 2013, 2014 & 2022 FIFA Club World Cups
* 2018 Confederation Africaine de Football (CAF) Championship
* 2018 and 2023 U23 African cup of nations
🏟️ Since the last AFCON, Morocco has also seen the development of key infrastructures including three 45 000 seaters stadiums :
1️⃣ in Fes (inaugurated in 2003, estimated cost at 40 million euros)
2️⃣ in Marrakech (inaugurated in 2011, estimated cost at 86 million euros)
3️⃣ in Agadir (inaugurated in 2013, estimated cost at 79 million euros)
and a 68000 seater stadium in Tanger (inauguarared in 2011, estimated cost at 80 million euros)
✈️ Morocco will not only rely on its sports infrastructures to please the 14.5 million of tourists who will be expected to visit the country in 2025. Morocco is the most visited country in Africa and has a lot to offer from a historical, gastronomy or even sightseeing perspective : African football fans are in for a great !
💰 By March 2023, its Ministry of Tourism recorded USD 2.4 billion in tourism revenue (a 52% increase from 2019 in that same period). Morocco’s economy will assuredly see a boost from hosting the competition.
While we are all gearing up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, I’m already looking forward to witnessing how Morocco’s sports infrastructures will evolve as the Kingdom gets ready to host AFCON and continue their bid for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
